Default How do I merge to a fax?

Hello:

I am trying to learn how to merge a document to a fax installed our
company's network system. All of the help files I have read say I need to use
a MAPI compatible product such as Microsoft Fax.

However, I am unable to find this product on Word's website. Can any one
direct me to those products and/or tell me how much they are?

I am using Microsoft Office Word 2003 using Microsoft XP system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
David

All the necessary fax software is provided as part of Windows XP, but it may
not be installed on your system - have a look at Control Panel|"Add or
Remove Programs"|"Add/Remove Windows Components". and have a look for fax
stuff in there.

In addition, go to Google Groups and search this newsgroup for a recent
message by me about merging to fax from Word 2003 (e.g. look for "Peter
jamieson fax")

Peter:

Thank you very much for your response. Unfortunately, my understanding of
these matters is very minimal, and I did not understand what to do after I
get to “add and remove programs.

I did go to goggle groups and searched your name, but the response was
almost overwhelming, I wasn’t sure what question applied to me, and was
completely lost when I read some response mentioned writing a marco.

However, I thank you for your prompt response, and for attempting to help me.

Thanks,
David

Having selected Windows control panel add & remove programs, one of the
options on the left of the dialog box should be Add/Remove Windows
components - That will take you to a further dialog from which you can check
'Fax Services'. This will add a fax driver to the Printer's group which you
then need to double click and configure following the instructions on
screen - silly question perhaps, but I assume that you have a fax modem
connected to/installed in the PC? An ADSL modem will not work for fax.

Graham has already suggested a next step for enabling fax.

As for the rest, the thing to do is take things step by step. Unfortunately,
something which should be quite simple has never been particularly
straightforward within Windows.
