And what's the issue here? Unless you quote the previous message, it's
impossible to follow the thread. s

IMO mode does not provide a simple way to change which Personal Folders .pst
file is your default. This would be one approach:

1. Right-click the folder you see as Outlook Today, choose Properties, then
Advanced. Note the file location of that .pst file.

2. Shut down Outlook.

3. Rename the file you identified in Step 1.

4. Copy the .pst file you want to use as your default to the same folder as
the file identified in Step 1 and rename it to that file's original name.

5. Restart Outlook.

My Outlook 2000 book covers the majority of the basic "gotchas." I haven't
evaluated others specifically for personal folders file issues; see
http://www.slipstick.com/books/otheruser.htm#ol2000 for what's available.
Stay away from the "Special Edition Outlook 2000" book.

Hi Sue. I was asking, the Outlook Today folder is the old file. The

correct file is a personal folder. how do I replace the Outlook Today
folder with the correct file? I have no problem, of course, removing the
personal folder, but when I go to remove the Outlook Today personal folder
it won't let me remove Outlook Today. You asked for the configuration from
Help About. Here it is:

Second line says IMO Only - Security Update. Version is 2000 SR-1

9.0.0.4527.

Is there any book in particular that BEST explains the workings of

personal folders? Microsoft makes them sound easy but every tech support
call I've ever placed (for folders that won't display, contacts that
dissappear from e-mail, etc.) suggest that things are indeed intricate.

Thanks

2) How do I get rid of the old file in Outlook Today, and reference

the
correct personal folder instead?

You'll have to tell us your Outlook configuration mode first -- check

the
2nd line of Help | About Microsoft Outlook.

3) Is there a definitive book/white paper to help me understand,

ONCE AND
FOR ALL personal folders?

All the Outlook books I've ever looked at have explanations on .pst

files.
Do you have particular questions?

Huh? Did you ever stop to think that (a) virtually everyone answering
questions here is a volunteer, not a Microsoft employee, and they're giving
up their free time to try to help other people or (b) not everyone reads the
newsgroups with a web interface, especially people who read and respond to
huge numbers of messages each day.
