Default Activation Code or license code

Hello
I am trying to find the code for Visio on this computer. It used to be owned
by someone I worked with.

It has Visio 2003 already on it and I can find the Product ID through Help
and Options but I want to find the licence number for asset purposes.

How can I find this please?

thankyou

The short answer is that it is not there. AFAIK selling a computer does not
transfer the license for the software that is on it, that is a separate
transaction (unless of course the source material for the software is also
transferred which would have the codes). You'll have to go back to the guy
you got it from.

Thanks Al. What does AFAIK mean?

I am surprised that I am unable to check if it is authentic though even if I
was only given the last four digits or something.

I will just keep using it then, we were looking at ordering the more
uptodate product for some of the staff.

Check with Microsoft directly. Most of the experts here can asnwer questions
on how to use the product, but we are lost when it comes to the mysteries of
licensing.

There should be no problem in doing the license transfer when you call
Microsoft if this is just a simple matter of you inheriting an existing
machine with Visio on it.
