How do I delete a highest level box in org chart in PowerPoint?

Is there anyway to delete a box in org chart in PowerPoint? The box is the
highest level manager.

Da,
You can't delete the highest level manager. You can make the box disappear,
delete the text in the box, rightclick that box, choose format
organizational chart, next to color in the fill section choose no color, in
the line section next to color choose no line. That way it will not show
anymore.

We struggle with this sometimes, I'm sure I've seen an answer somewhere but
maybe I imagined it, I certainly can't find it now!

You can though just draw the chart with boxes and connectors (quicker than
you might imagine) or cut paste special as png and crop off the top as well
as make the box invisible as above.

If my brain reboots and I find the way to delete them I'll get back!

Hi,

I remember standing at the Tower of London at the site where this happened
to a few acquaintances of Henry 8th. Permanent solution to a temporary
problem. And then there was James 1 and James 2, and Charles, and the the
restoration which seems like a back flip after the first problem was fixed,
and I'm so glad they sent us Aussies all off to the colony vbg.

Methods I have used in the past ...

Masking box --
a box with the same color as the background used to hide the top boss
level.

Casper the shape --
turn off the auto formatting and make the shape outline, background and
connecting lines all No fill/line. Its still there, just no one can see it.

Camouflage it --
Turn off the auto formatting and move the top level boss to look like
one of the shared-top-levels (never tell them which you made the real boss)

Heinlein it --
Turn off auto-formatting and make the height and width of the top level
boss shape zero. (Ode to Michael Valentine Smith)

Of course if no more edits are required, you can always convert it to a
graphic and just crop it off. But this method looses all the functionality
of a org chart.


As you have guessed, turning off the auto-formatting option is pretty much
required as the first step in fixing this. MS does not seem to understand
organizations without a single person in charge (despite whatever evidence
you may have to the contrary).
