Default Hotmail & Outlook Express problem....again ?

If you're not running IE7, you don't need 904942, no. Try this instead:

IE Tools Internet Options Privacy Sites: type in

hotmail.com

and Allow Cookies.

Thanks PA Bear, but how could I be running IE7 if
I didn't
install it. and when I click on the IE Help it
says IE 6?
I went in to explorer and checked the dates for
the IE
program files, nothing there for recent dates.

Would it be okay to use this patch even though I
don't
seem to have IE7?

1. CrystalBall© tells me that you're running IE7,
so close OE and install
this patch:

Authentication fails when you use Outlook or
Outlook Express to try to log
on to a HTTP-based mail server if you use Internet
Explorer version 7.0:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/904942

2. MSN/Hotmail servers have been acting up all
week. See
http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2.../hot-mail.html

I'm sorry to bother you again, but I'm not
getting
much help from Microsoft. Just canned letters
that
don't address the problem. I've done some quick
checks with my ISP (Road Runner) and it shows
that they have been able to "connect" to hotmail
both inbound and outbound. I keep getting the
same error msg.
What do them mean "Authorization Required" ?
Is that from Microsoft or from my ISP ?
Oh, Hotmail was down for awhile today too, they
said it was too many people or something like
that.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You PA Bear.
It worked ! Why couldn't MS Hotmail have given
me this info
weeks ago? I'm printing this one off for my PC
book just
in case this happens again. Not sure how it got
changed
or unchanged but now I'll know what to try first.
So much for Microsoft's new customer service.
Just a clarification for other readers the "Allow
Cookies" is
found under the advance tab. I use Win Xp.

YW & thanks for posting back.

Tools Internet Options Privacy Advanced offers you a different way of
handling cookies. The Allow button is found in Tools Internet Options
Privacy Sites.

Thank You, this worked. Not sure how the cookies
got turned
off, but guess they did. I did check and found
Hotmail was in
my "allow" for both web sites and cookies, but
evidently not
working.
