Will Publisher still work on new version of IE?

I manage my company's web site which I created with Publisher 2003 in 2006.
I have been told that Publisher web sites will no longer work with the next
iteration of Internet Explorer (and with other browsers) because they will
not comport with international standards. Is this true, and should I
redesign my web site with another authoring tool?

Since IE8 has not been released yet, there's no way of telling for sure how
your Publisher designed web will work with IE8...it's almost certain that
IE8 will have to run in compatibility mode though.

Run your current website through W3C validator
http://validator.w3.org/#validate_by_uri+with_options it will show you
errors, there's also a W3C validator for CSS you should run both - this will
give you a hint as to where you will stand.

IMO if your web is for a company site...you should not be using Publisher to
design it.

Rather than subject this group to another long discourse on this subject, I
would instead suggest that you read the post and thread "Internet Explorer 8
by Eric James on Feb 25th ". where you can read a number of looooooong
responses. Then if you are of a mind to get help in making your site cross
browser compatible, then please repost in the web newsgroup, and we will try

When you repost your question in the web group, then please include the
version of Publisher you are using, the URL of your site and as much detail
as possible. In fact you might want to download FireFox (7.8 MB):
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ install it, and test your site for
where it does not work correctly. Then post links to the pages where you
find problems and specifically what those problems are and we will provide
the fix. Contary to what some people think, you can build a website with
Publisher that is cross browser compatible, and can even be fixed to run in
IE8 RC1 without resorting to compatibility mode.
