Default Appointments in to-do bar

Can an appointment show up in the to-do bar if it is more than 30 days from
todays date? There is only one appointment showing at this time. If I
create an appointment 30 days in the future it shows the details, if it is
more than 30 days it only shows up as a bold date in the calandar section.

the to-do only shows appointments that are upcoming soon. also, all day
