Table of Contents
Hopefully I am in the right group.
I created a document and added a table of contents (insert table of contents). Once I had saved this document, I had to add another section to my document. I updated the table of contents after I added the new section, but it does not show in my table of contents. Help! |

Table of Contents
When you update the TOC, you need to tell it to update entire table, not
page numbers only. Colleen wrote: Hopefully I am in the right group. I created a document and added a table of contents (insert table of contents). Does the new section use heading styles recognized by your TOC? If you were
asked if you wanted to update only page numbers or the whole table, did you tell Word you wanted to update the whole table? -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://www.mvps.org/word which is awesome! --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- This message is posted to a newsgroup. I did have it update entire TOC, but it still did not add
the new section. -----Original Message----- When you update the TOC, you need to tell it to update entire table, not page numbers only. Colleen wrote: Hopefully I am in the right group. Yes, I used the same styles as before. I was asked
whether to update page numbers only or the whole table, and I selected whole table, yet it still doesn't update it with the new section.
