Outlook 2003 sends with wrong account
I have 2 accounts set up in outlook 2003, and no matter what I do, whenever I
try to send from the one account, it is always received from the other. I have tried everything I can think of, including setting up authentication on both accounts, deleting and reinstalling accounts, and changing which is the default, and nothing has helped. I have the following installed: Windows XP Home SP2 with all released patches installed Office 2003 SP1 (.6360) installed w Business Contact Manager This is a major problem for me, as I work with multiple companies, and I cannot have one companies's clients receive emails from the other. I know that many others have had the same problem--is there any solution to it yet? |

Generally authenticating to the SMTP server is sufficient in solving this
issue. Since you have tried that, I would turn on diagnostic logging, duplicate the issue, and then review the log to see what the heck is going on between the client and server. http://support.microsoft.com/default...300479&sd=RMVP "dsf260" wrote in message ... I am trying to send from "scottfleishman.com", but it is sending from "kelleymanagement.com" The problem is that you're not authenticating to the server ("smtpout.secureserver.net") for "scottfleishman.com", so it is rejecting your attempt to send. On the "scottfleishman.com" account, go to the "Outgoing server" tab and turn on authentication. -- Jeff Stephenson Outlook Development This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights |

Not a problem.
Assuming that the smtp server name for scottfleishman.com is smtpout.secureserver.net, then I can easily see that the account is not configured to authenticate to the SMTP server in order to send mail. (see below for the cleaned up version of the log) Try select Tools Email Accounts View/change existing accounts. Properties on the scottfleishman.com account more settings button and go to the outgoing server tab to configure authentication to the smtp server. 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): rx 220 smtpout03-04.mesa1.secureserver.net ESMTP 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): [tx] EHLO DSFPres910 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): rx 250-smtpout03-04.mesa1.secureserver.net 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): rx 250-AUTH LOGIN PLAIN 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): rx 250-8BITMIME 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): rx 250 PIPELINING 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): Authorized to host 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): Connected to host 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): [tx] MAIL FROM: ***** 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): rx 250 Sender accepted. 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): [tx] RCPT TO: ***** 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): rx 553 Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts. 2005.02.04 22:15:57 SMTP (smtpout.secureserver.net): End execution 2005.02.04 22:15:57 mail.scottfleishman.com: FinishSend for AcctID 18 , now stamped it with AcctID 12 . You are correct--that is the name of the outgoing server in question. However, I do have that server configured as "log into incoming mail server before sending mail" Do I need to set one of the other options? |

I got it working!
I had to set up a SMTP relay and get a name/password from my email provider. Once I set that up, everything fell into place. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.
