This is a known problem in Word 97 and above. See "WD2000: Hanging Indent
Lost When Text Wraps to Right Side of Square Wrapped Object" at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/209633. The Bullets and Numbering buttons do
work, but that's it.

Ok- here's one way:

Put the image on the page, "behind text" or whatever-
Positioning-other
place it where you want.

Set the page left margin to fully clear the picture- 3", 4", whatever.
You wanted the text away from the graphic anyway...
The picture is set to not wrap text, the text never sees it, and all
the automatic stuff works normally based on the new left margin!
Or, have I missed something?

You don't want the entire left margin indented. What you can actually do,
however, is set the picture to Behind Text (or In Front of Text) and give
the paragraph a left indent as well as a hanging indent. The only problem
with this is that you have to indent just the (full) paragraphs that run
beside the picture; you don't get the benefit of being able to wrap a single
paragraph beside and below the picture.

Well, she said the template would have a picture running down the left
side of the page...
I (ass/u/me)d she meant *all the way* down the page.
If not, then we're back to the methods you provide.

cheers
Jay
