Hiding a video object in a PP 2003 show
I have a short video (.wmv) in a slide. However, when the slide shows, the
first frame of the video is shown for a second or two, then the video plays OK, and when the clip ends, the first frame reappears. I want to avoid displaying that first frame both before and after the clip plays. The video is inserted as "Automatically". A friend of mine tried to help, then sent the show back to me. They did not return the video file. But, when I played the show, the first frame was displayed, but of course, no video. This tells me that the first frame I am seeing is that PP embedded the first frame in the slide. Is that right? I can eliminate the first frame after the clip plays by "Hide after animation" but can't get rid of the initial showing of the first frame. Is this actually some sort of "placeholder". Is there a way to eliminate it, such as "Hide before animation" or some other way? I would like to have just the video automatically play when the slide opens. Thank you. |

Sounds like you need to set the vid to play on click and 'hide during show'
/' hide while not playing' depending on PowerPoint Version. If you need more precise instrux please say which version you have. -- john ATSIGN PPTAlchemy.co.uk Free PPT Hints, Tips and Tutorials http://www.pptalchemy.co.uk/powerpoi...tutorials.html "Hickory" wrote: I have a short video (.wmv) in a slide. Hiding a video object in a PP 2003 show
I have 2003 version. I don't recall ever seeing something like "hide during
show" or "hide while not playing". Sounds like exactly what I need. Is it in 2003 and, if so, where? I tried PP's Help but that was no help -- there's no mention of "hide" at all. Hiding a video object in a PP 2003 show
In 2003 you can either right click on the video object Edit movie object
OR Double click the custom animation entry Movie Settings Tab -- john ATSIGN PPTAlchemy.co.uk Free PPT Hints, Tips and Tutorials http://www.pptalchemy.co.uk/powerpoi...tutorials.html "Hickory" wrote: I have 2003 version. Hiding a video object in a PP 2003 show
"Hide when not playing" is checked both in Edit Movie Object | Movie Options
and in Custom Animation | Movie Settings. (My memory failed me -- I did set "Hide when not playing" as I thought this would help.) However, I think what needs to be hidden is the object on the slide showing the first frame. The video clip does play automatically and correctly. By the way, the transition for both the preceding and the video slide are "Automatic after seconds". The time for the video slide is 1 second longer than the video itself.
