Outlook 2007 in Vista VERY SLOW
Outlook is not capable of downloading mail from a POP3 server. The same
sOutlook on XP would work great. What is with Outlook 2007 and Vista that would make any receiving call to the POP3 server run like molassess? |

Outlook 2007 in Vista VERY SLOW
Hi,
well I´ve the same problem described in the first post! I did the following: Installed Outlook 2007 on a Win XP system. Everything worked great. After that I installed Vista on the same machine and tried to sync my mails from the pop3 accounts. The thing now is, that the download speed is 9 kb!! It took me 60 minutes to get a mail with 1MB!! Downloading files from the net still works... Perhaps anyone out there has a solution! Thanks! Outlook 2007 in Vista VERY SLOW
Same problem here, but I've been on the issue for days now and I'm still
getting the MS runaround. Interestingly MS MAil, aka Outlook Express, that shipped with VIsta has no problems handling POP3 servers. I read as more and more people are having this problems, yet MS still does not have a satisfactory answer. I spoke for 4 hours with a MS Outlook Engineer who diagnosed my issue and basically told me that there is a major problem here. As a long time user of MS product I'm somewhat disturbed that MS is taking this issue so lightly. What do we have to do to get someone, ie the developers, take a look at the issue and present a solution. I mean its not impossible, MS Mail handles POP3 very well with no time out. Some of my POP mail accounts work, others, specifically GMAIL, don't. When it does work, it's incredibly slow and has problems downloading anything with an attachment. Most of the time it just times out. I've tried using Outlook 2003, Windows Mail, and Thunderbird, but they all have the same issue. When I spoke with the MS tech support, they had no idea what the issue was. If anyone finds a fix for this, please post it. This seems like a fairly common problem people are having. |

Hey Jake
If anyone at MS tells you they don't have a clue what your talking about, refer them to case # 1028939636. This is my case number in reference to this issue. I keep seeing more and more people coming up with this problem. Have you tried Windows Mail, the old Outlook Express that shipped with Vista. I've founf this to work just fine. Just goes to prove (1) This is not my ISP's fault and (2) This is not an Antivirsus issue. It's been a long time, I just wish I could get an acknowledgement from MS that they are working on this issue. Outlook 2007 in Vista VERY SLOW
Just to add...
The slow downloading of email from the server (any mail server) happens in both IMAP and POP3. I am running some of the latest gear, with a 6MB DL internet connection. Again, things work better with XP, and on every system that we have migrated over to Vista/Office 2007 Office Outlook runs like a molassess. I would not recommend this to anyone who has corporate relying on email. You will spend more time trying to fix this (and the email still won't D/L properly in that time) than you would unloading office 2007 and putting office 2003 back on. We have tried everything to get this to go. Regards, Eddie "Eddie" wrote: Outlook is not capable of downloading mail from a POP3 server. The same sOutlook on XP would work great. I, as well as many others, share your pain Eddie. As a I.T. Manager running
850 XP systems there is NO WAY IN HELL I'M AUTHORIZING ANY UPGRADE TO VISTA. Sorry MS but I think I'll wait until you solve the problems. But then again MS has only had 5, that's 5, years to get it right. Cold in Canada Engineer "Eddie" wrote: Just to add... Outlook 2007 in Vista VERY SLOW
I couldn't agree more. I've been using Beta 2 Tech Refresh Office 2007 on
Vista RC2 for a while, and i upgraded to final version of Office as soon as the trial came out, and then to final vista on the 30th Jan. I was kind of thinking that would 'fix' things but... The rest of office is really quite ok, but outlook just chugs terribly. It spins for a ridiculous amount of time when selecting the inbox for my only account (hotmail) and selecting mails in the inbox can be pretty painful. Windows Desktop live Mail beta is far better, frankly. I'm on a decently specced computer by the way (2gb, FX60 ) Big Microsoft fan, but I think this is a very poor effort. Disappointed. Outlook 2007 in Vista VERY SLOW
And just to provide more stats:
- I have no archives - I have only 2600 mails in my single hotmail account One other annoying but, i don't know if others' have reported - Outlook frequently forgets my password, i always check the remember password box...to no avail.
