Default 2007 Conditional Formatting

In older versions of Excel, I used to set 3-4 conditions in cells A1 to A4.
Then, I would copy these 4 cells across to Column BZ and all would be well.

Now, in Excel 2007, it appears weeks later, that my 4 conditions multiply
into hundreds (if not thousands) of conditions! This bogs down my
spreadsheet immensly, as each condition is searched for.

Yes...I removed the Absolute $ from the cell references. But still, I can't
tell what is causing this. Anyone experience this?

I've seen this reported before. This is due to the confusing data validation
user interface.

In previous versions you had 2 options: Cell value is and Formula Is. With
Excel 2007 there are all kinds of options.

I use the Formula Is option or its equivalent in Excel 2007 100% of the
time, even for the most simple things.

With Excel 2007 there are some improvemnts in conditional formatting but the
implementation is not very good! It's way too confusing! However, if you use
the equivalent of "Formula Is" and start the process by using the "Manage
Rules" option not the "New Rule" option it seems less confusing.
