Outlook 2003 unstable in Windows 7 x64
Well...nothing definitive....
I ran , and run Scanpst until no errors. Ran for a few days in safe mode - wher it seems to be a little more stable but still crashes sometimes. Generaally I am back to running in regular mode and sufferring the crashes. After most crashes the scanpst finds errors. Often the scanpst itself freezes after pressing BACKUP and YES to replace previous Backup file.. WHen restarting SCAN PST immediately after it crashes / freezes it says no errors were found. I am so desperate I am considering buying 2007 with included update to 2010 in the hope that this will solve the problem Roady [MVP]" wrote: Run scanpst.exe a couple more times against any of your pst-files until it doesn't pop-up any errors anymore. Then start Outlook in Safe Mode and work with Outlook like that for a day and see if still crashes. This will give more insights in the scope of your issue. To start Outlook in Safe Mode use; Start- type; outlook.exe /safe (note the space in the command) -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "EHS" wrote in message ... 4 accounts - 3 different servers I have mow increased auto check to 10 minute intervals By the way - crashed again this morning despite pst scan and repair yesterday. I installed Office 2003 on brand new Windows 7 x64 a few eeks ago. No problems installing, no problems transferring all data from old system, never any problem opening Outlook, or any other office apps. Everything (Windows, Office ) at the latest update SP and release. Outlook regulary stops working, and restarts. Quite often when starting a new email. I have removed all add ins. Often Outlook will also not close - when using the "X" at the top Right hand corner. When this happens it can only be closed using file exit. Never ever had any of these issues when running on XP . . |
