Default How can I get Excel to sort files in alphabetical order, not date?

While working in Excel somehow it changed. When I used to open files, they
would appear in alphabetical order. Now they appear in date order by last
date used.

Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

Do you mean in dialog box you see after you click File, then Open? If so, if
you are any view except Details, right-click in an empty part of the box,
select Arrange Icons By and choose Name. If you are using the Details view
here, you can just click the name column header.

Click on the View icon, select "Details". Now click on the header you
require, click once more to reverse the sort order.
Click Views again to select another view if required.
