Hyperlinks in email messages
I use Outlook 2007 in Windows XP and Internet Explorer 8. Hyperlinks in my
incoming emails no longer work. I can't even click on Microsoft Outlook Help online! It worked before and then just stopped. IE8 is my default browser and I have no idea how to get the hyperlinks to work. It is causing a major headache for me though in their not working. Does anyone have an idea of what to do? I am not a computer expert so detailed instructions would be most appreciated. -- Evelyn |

You need to reset the Internet Explorer options. From IE, go to tools,
options and click on the Reset button on the Advanced tab. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: You can access this newsgroup by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx or point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com. Diane - I spoke too soon. It did NOT work. I did exactly what you said and
it worked for one email and then stopped working again. I can't even click on Microsoft Outlook Help online because the link won't work! What do I do now? Are you scanning your emails with an Anti Virus or Security Suite. If it worked only one time when you followed Diane's instruction then you have to repeat it again and ONLY after you disable your email scanning by uninstalling it and then re-installing it without the email integration (scanning) option Read the following concerning the email scanning http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. I followed your instructions, but it still doesn't fix the problem. I get
the same message: General failure. The URL was: "......". The system cannot find the file specified. I also have Outlook Express installed on my machine for another email account and the hyperlinks work just fine with Outlook Express. The problem is definitely with Outlook. They worked BEFORE I installed IE8. Any other suggestions? -- Evelyn "Peter Foldes" wrote: Evelyn Are you scanning your emails with an Anti Virus or Security Suite. Yes, if I copy and paste it into IE8, it opens. However, that doesn't help
me if I need to click a hyperlink where I can't copy and paste it (such as Outlook help online from Outlook). I just don't understand why I can no longer just click on the hyperlinks in Outlook, yet it works in Outlook Express and worked in Outlook before IE8. -- Evelyn "Peter Foldes" wrote: Evelyn Copy\Paste the link into the IE8 window and then try to open it. Peter:
The links are now working in Outlook, although I don't even know why. I did not do anything else beyond what you and Diane told me to do. None of that worked, but it seems to be working now. Very odd, but I am just grateful it's working. Thank you. -- Evelyn "Peter Foldes" wrote: Evelyn Copy\Paste the link into the IE8 window and then try to open it. For All. Known issue with IE8 Probably because you failed to disable your anti-virus application, any real-time protections afforded any anti-spyware applications, and your third-party firewall (if any) and then enable the Windows Firewall prior to installing IE8 & rebooting twice. You might be able to correct this issue by uninstalling IE8 and reverting to the above when re-installing after reboot -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged.
