"select folder to export from": No folder to select
I cannot see any folder to select in the window "Select folder to export
from", when trying to export contacts per the steps at http://news.cnet.com/8301-13880_3-10017934-68.html , Also, I cannot click or browse to any folder outside that window either. Any ideas of what to try next, or of the reasons why i can't replicate the steps that others seem able to do? |

You'll need to provide at least some information. A minimum would include:
1. Outlook version 2. Information store (if you don't know then state your mail account type) 3. Precise you steps you used and what happened. -- Russ Valentine "Pi" wrote in message ... "select folder to export from": No folder to select
Thanks for following up Russ. I'm using MS Outlook 2007 with Vista Business
(no MS Exchange Server), with mail account type IMAP/SMTP. In terms of steps, I'm first applying a filter based on Categories, then I select CONTACTS--FILE--IMPORT/EXPORT--EXPORT TO A FILE--CSV WINDOWS--ETC. Note that my laptop was previously part of a corporate MS Exchange environment at my former employer - Is it possible that the former IT administrator put in place an Administrator policy that could prevent the exporting of contact lists (for corporate security reasons?) and that this policy be still enforced on my laptop? If so, how could I remove that, without Exchange Administrator privileges? Notably, when I removed the filter , I was able to export, but got the message "The file Comma Separated Values (Windows).ADR" was not found by the translator. If the file is on a network, the volume must be mounted and registered with the system". Could this also be part of the same problem, that required executables from a network that I am no longer connectible to? I dismissed the warning message, and the download surprisingly proceeded as if nothing were. I can probably live with the full export that I now obtain, but am interested to know the reasons why the problem arose in the first place, and whether it will reoccur. What do you mean by IMAP/SMTP?
Do you have a local Outlook data file in this profile or does all your data reside on the IMAP server? An export won't abide by your filtered view. -- Russ Valentine "Pi" wrote in message ...
