2000 & XP: Concurrent Installation

Understand KB Article 828956: Install earlier first, etc.
Want to do it different.
New PC is pre-loaded with Office 2003 Pro (OS: XP-Media Center, SP-2).
I want to install Office 2000 (and several other legacy programs / e.g.
Acess & PPt 2002) on a partitioned Drive. If I want to install 2000 without
first uninstalling 2003, then reinstalling 2003, would I have to have each
drive loaded with a separate instance of an OS and boot up to that drive?
Any unusual problems (besides the pain of rebooting) with that setup?

Or is there an alternate (better) solution using partitioned drive that
would preclude initially uninstalling Office 2003?

If I end up having to uninstall, and my only interest is in loading WORD
2000, how much of 2003 do I need to uninstall? Will Outlook be impacted by
loading WORD 2000 after uninstalling WORD 2003?

The MS response, as you know, is to install earliest version first, update
then install later version
With Office2k you would have to custom install into a specific folder eg
Office2k, versions after officexp installed by default into a version
specific folder.
OL2003 requires word2003 for use as word editor.

BTW why do you need to install word2k? (your only interest)
Since you only want Word, a multi boot option seems a lot of hassle

Agree excessive hassle ... likely ditch 2003 (WORD & OL) for a later day.

I have clients that use only Word 2000 and use of XP or 2003 in editing
(inserting Comments, etc) does NOT result in completely compatible when
re-opened in 2000, even when the 2000 compatibility options are selected. We
have over the last couple years with various new users run time and time
againinto this lack of backward compatibility .... with many efforts to find
work-arounds that just never get there.
