caption numbering
With Word 2007, on several documents I have numbered Heading 1 with
the "Chapter X" numbering, so that my table captions will be numbered: Table 3.1, Table 3.2 etc. Often when I save the file and reopen it the Heading numbering disappears and the captions go back to Table 0.1, 0.2.... What did I do wrong?

Are you sure that heading numbering is correctly defined? Place the
insertion point in a Heading 1. On the Home tab, click Multilevel List, and choose Define New Multilevel List. Also make sure that there are no blank paragraphs where the heading numbering
