Shared User Issue When Opening Database
I have an issue this afternoon which, I feel probably isn't directly related
to Access, but would be grateful for guidance if anyone has experienced this before. I have a database (default open mode - shared) which, this afternoon, won't allow a second user to open it. If a second user tries to open the database a message box is displayed quoting the path of the database file plus "The parameter is incorrect" The database is located on a shared folder on our network. Thanks for any assistance. Dave |

Shared User Issue When Opening Database
ONLY the data should be on a shared folder, not the front-end application
which should be split and on each workstation, linked to the data on a server. You have probably corrupted the database. Here are some possible resolutions: First, always work on a copy of the database. Working on the original may make it impossible for a repair service to fix it. Decompile your database: http://www.trigeminal.com/usenet/usenet004.asp Download a copy of JetComp.exe: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;273956 Try backing up your forms as text with the undocumented SaveAsText LoadFromText functions: http://www.datastrat.com/Code/DocDatabase.txt Also have a look at the Microsoft KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;209137 Then have a look at Tony Toews' Access Corruption FAQ at: http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm for some suggestions. Unfortunately, some corruption cannot be fixed - you may need to create a new database, import what can be salvaged, and recreate the rest. Although it's a paid service, Peter Miller does an outstanding job of saving corrupt databases. Thanks for all the information Arvin. I'll have a good look at what you've
provided and see what we can do.
