Activating Trial version of Office 2007
I am writing this on behalf of my mother in law who has had a problem with
activating Office on her laptop. She purchased a product key from Microsoft to activate it (about £130) but does not have any details about which version she purchased apart from her bank statement and a product key. I am assuming she purchased the Home and Student edition as this is the least expensive version. When she entered the product key, and tried to convert to the full version, it did not work and every time she went back into Word, it asked her to convert again even though it was recognising her product key when entered. I thought perhaps it was not the right trial version so I uninstalled the trial and downloaded a new Home and Student 2007 trial and tried to convert it with her product key. Now it is telling me that the product key is not valid. Is there a maximum number of times it can be used? Could it be that because it was being accepted originally, it is now not valid because the system thinks it has been used already? I'd really appreciate any advice on how to resolve this issue. It is frustrating that she has paid for the product key and is now not able to use it. |

When she purchased, she would have had the option to order the disk by
paying extra, she would have been emailed the key and would have downloaded the installation file to disk The price for 2007 H&S from MS is £97.86, including disk, so if she paid £130 where exactly did she buy from? (The other Office suits are all +£300) You have to uninstall any trial and its activation assistant, reboot, then install from the downloaded installation file (the installation file would be about 300mb) If you have no disk its v.important to keep a copy of the installation file on external media, together with the key "Corinne" wrote in message ... Thanks for your response. I say £130 - it was something like that. She thinks
she was on the US Microsoft site but on her bank statement there was a conversion from Euros! Yes, unfortunately she has no email or file (and cannot remember receiving one) and she wrote down the product key. She is not used to using computers! It sounds like she might have to pay for it and start again - and get the disk this time? (but I will do it for her this time). I've done some more investigating. I contacted the Microsoft store (UK) and
gave them the Product Key and they said it was an OEM key purchased from a 3rd party supplier. She gave me a microsoft support address to get a new backup copy but that didn't work as I couldn't find where you could do that. I also think I recall that her credit card statement said DRI at the beginning so I have contacted Digital River as she could have purchased it from them... "Corinne" wrote: Thanks for your response. I dont believe Digital River supplies OEM keys/software
When purchasing from them, they email the key PS Amazon.com, or most online retailers are cheaper than buying via MS, and you get the disk "Corinne" wrote in message ... You have to uninstall any Trial together with activation assistant, reboot,
prior to installing from cd "Corinne" wrote in message ... Thanks for your help DL. Activating Trial version of Office 2007
All is resolved now. Digital River sent me a copy of the file and a new
product key. I uninstalled the trial and downloaded the file and installed it. All is working fine. Shame she paid more than twice as much as she needed to (it was £140!). She will definitely know for next time. Thanks for your helpful advice.
