Default Downloaded legit copy of Office 2007 and lost product key

I downloaded office 2007 student on my wife's computer last year. However, we
sold the computer. I saved the install files as well as the product key. I've
managed to successfully install the new software but when I type in the
product key to activate it it states the the letter "E" is not allowed? My
product key is filled with E's and other letters it says are invalid? WTF?
This is ridiculous and I'm not paying the microsoft idiots $49 to ask a
questions....How can I recover the "correct" key if I downloaded the copy off
microsoft's website and don't physically have a disk or box? Someone help!!!!

Have you tried using the telephone activation method?

JoAnn, you missed it this time. (We all do once in a while;-) The OP is
attempting to type in the key and it isn't accepting the characters being
typed. Won't get to telephone activation screen. I think DL has the
correct fix in this case.

Microsoft product keys normally do not contain vowels. This is done to
prevent the occurence of real words in the product key which could be
considered offensive by someone. So if the 'key' you are holding contains an
"E", it's most likely not a Micrsoft product key.

(Next to vowels, there are other characters/numbers which cannot be used in
a product key to ensure readability.)

Depending on where you bought the software, you could ask them to mail you
your key again. There's no guarantee they keep a copy of it, but it could
be.

Yeah, I think you're right. I hope he gets it straightened out. There's
enough stuff out there to frustrate us.
