Default 2GB limit in Outlook Express

Evening.
I've hit my head on the 2GB file limit in Outlook Express, although I didn't
know this was an issue until I did.
Now that I have done so, I have a folder which I can no longer access - any
attempt to do so causes OE to freeze. Having Googled and searched the MS
knowledge base, I found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/296088, but this
only refers to Outlook and the tool only works with .pst and not .dbx files.
Can anyone advise how I repair my .dbx file?
Thanks.

You can use DBXtract or DBXpress from www.oehelp.com on the problem DBX
file. DBXtract is the slower of the two and would most likely takes days of
continuous running to extract the info. But there is no "repair" tool for a
DBX file from Microsoft.
