Is it possible to save (HTML) to Desktop?
Hello Everyone, I am using Windows XP Pro. with OE. 6.0, I would like to save one (HTML) from my OE. Inbox to my Desktop to use later as an Attachment on a NG. Account. The reason for this is to edit the Sender E-mail Address. I have tried "Save as" Under the Tab File, all I get just the text, and where the Pictures supposed to be there are only "Frames" With a red "x" on top left corner. Tried to Copy and Paste, same results. The E-mail is composed of four Pictures, with a text on bottom of each Picture. Thanks for Your kind suggestion, x@y |

File/Save As and use the native EML file extension. If the message is
properly crafted, when you double click the saved EML file, it will open in Outlook Express. To attach it to any message, click the Attach icon (paper clip) and browse to the location where you stored it. If you wish to save it with the intent of sending it directly to another person (otherwise why would you want to change the Sender's email address), you will need to edit the saved EML file using Notepad and your machine must have all security updates installed. To resend a message, see the info at this link: http://www.insideoe.com/ -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Is it possible to save (HTML) to Desktop?
Hello Jim, Thank You very much for Your advice on this thread. I have printed Your instructions and will try soon, and will post back the results. You have asked: "If you wish to save it with the intent of sending it directly to another person (otherwise why would you want to change the Sender's email address)," My intent is to post some of the (HTML) emails I receive to a binary NG. with the Senders permission of course. They are mostly a mix of texts and pictures, plain text emails are no problem at all. For plain text I use the Copy & Paste option. I will be using the same OE Account I am using for this NG. my email is "Invalid" and x@y is my nickname just for the use on the Internet. As You know this is to prevent spammers to harvest my email address, and maybe spammed afterwards. Best Regards, x@y ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ "Jim Pickering" wrote in message File/Save As and use the native EML file extension. Is it possible to save (HTML) to Desktop?
Hello Jim,
I have read & followed the advice on the link You gave me: (http://www.insideoe.com/) I have uninstalled (KB 911567) as advised, and then tried to save the email as (*.eml) extension on the Desktop, it worked perfect, this time the Pictures were included as in the original email from the OE inbox. This trick works only if I use (*.eml) extension, if I use (*.txt), (*.txt) Unicode, or (*.html) files extensions, will not work, in a way that Pictures will not be included, it will display an outline frame of the Pictures with a red "x" on the inside corner. Also tried to edit the saved eml with Notepad, it is a very nice Option for text only, but I was not able to keep the Pictures in my original saved eml. My (*.eml) saved file still has the Sender's email Address and Name on It, and if I will use for Posting as an Attachment it will include all the Personal info of the Sender. Is there any other way to save, or edit the Content of an OE Inbox mail, with Pictures & text, as an Attachment or file without the Sender's Name & email address? Is it possible to save (HTML) to Desktop?
For mail messages, you need to save it as an EML file. If it is a newsgroup
message, it needs to be saved as a NWS file. You do not specify which you need. To resend, either type, make an added entry in the headers for X-Unsent: and set the value to 1 as outlined at this site: http://www.insideoe.com/faqs/how.htm#resend After the edit, make sure you save the message again in the format needed, i.e., do not just exit from Notepad w/o saving the file. Beyond that, if you cannot get it to work, I'd suggest you re-read the previous links that were provided. To send as an attachment, just save it somewhere on your hard drive and attach it to an outgoing post or mail message. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Is it possible to save (HTML) to Desktop?
Hello Jim, I have managed to save the EML file on the desktop, and ready to be posted as an attachment. I have used this workaround awhile ego, and today it came back to my mind. Here it is how I did it: "Not in a professional fashion but it works" Open the (HTML) Email from the OE Inbox, click on the option "Forward" In this Mode OE allows You to edit the content of the Email. At this stage the first thing I do is "Delete" The block of the incoming, and outgoing "Emails Addresses" In the body of the email in question. The To: & From: Address bars will be left blank, only the Subject bar will be filled in. Now we are ready to save; Click on "File" Then "Save As....." on the "Save Messages" Pop up screen I select "Desktop" And make sure it is saved as (*.eml) File extension, all others types of file extensions won't work. My Edited Email is now ready on the Desktop to be Posted as an Attachment. The only Drawback is that it will include the To: / From: & the Cc: Blank Lines on the top. Hello Frank, I have tried to open my saved .html file with IE, it did not work, my guess is the Email is originated with OE, and has to be handled with OE. I am not sure, I could be wrong.
