Dbl space numbers, sgl space text

I need to double space line numbers while retaining the ability to type
either single or double space within those numbers. That is, not only type on
the numbered line, but also OCCASIONALLY on the lines in between the numbers.
(Legal Pleadings)

AND I need to set the top margin of the first page at 3" and subsequent
pages at 1.5" while retaining consistent line numbering on all pages. (So
line number 1 would be at 1.5" )

If you want a larger first page header then one way would be to insert a
borderless text box in the first page header with the wrap set to
above/below, which would push down the text on the page (and the numbering).

I don't believe there is any way to number every other line, but if you set
the line spacing to double space and overlay a borderless text box with no
fill and set the format of the content to double spaced, you can use that to
write in the spaces between the lines. It is not exactly convenient, but it
would work for 'occasionally'.

The way the line numbering is handled in the Pleading Wizard is to insert a
text box anchored to the header and positioned in the left margin. The text
box contains a vertical string of numbers that will maintain their position
regardless of what is typed on the page. A different text box can be
anchored to the First Page Header.

Also, it's not necessary to use a text box in the First Page Header to push
text down; Spacing After added to the header paragraph will accomplish the
same thing.

I think I get the basic idea, but I don't know how to "insert a text box
anchored to the header and positioned in the left margin." While I'm trying
to figure that out, I'll post another question--maybe it will be easier.

Open the header view. Place the text box in the margin. Fill it with
numbers. Close the header view.
