How to recover a deleted folder?
First, make sure it isn't in Deleted Items. If not, see if the dbx file for
the folder still exists in the message store and manually restore it as follows. Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then Start | Run | Ctrl+V will put the location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer. In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K03, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options | View. In Windows Explorer, click on the dbx file for the missing folder and drag it to the Desktop. Open OE and create a folder with the *exact* same name as the one on your desktop. Open the new folder and then close OE. Go back to Windows Explorer and Click Desktop and drag the file from the Desktop to the OE store folder that you clicked on to reveal the .dbx files. Prompt - "Do you want to overwrite......."? Click Yes. If you value your messages, back them up daily in the future. How to recover a deleted folder?
DBXpress is the only thing I know of that will help.
www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/ as it will analyze the entire hard drive for messages and is the only program that will do that. I live in the States and don't have money to give away my programs. steve "Willemijn Quaijtaal" wrote in message ... Edit: I live in the netherlands and don't have money to buy programs... How to recover a deleted folder?
I don't know of any other way. An undelete program might be able to recover
a file, but they usually don't work very well. If you recover such, then you could try manually importing it. See the last paragraph under OE at www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx to do that. steve "Willemijn Quaijtaal" wrote in message ... Hm.. How to recover a deleted folder?
I already tried a recovery program. I think I just have to stop trying and
live with the fact that they are lost, since I don't have any money (all my money goes into my studies At least thanks for the replies, I'm sure that your program might have done the trick but I can't afford it.
