Default Pop3 account problems

I am currently unable to download or send mail from
Outlook 2003. I have configure my mail account to go to
pop.ukgateway.net and using smtp.gateway.net as the
outgoing mail server. The port numbers are set as 110 for
outgoing and 25 for incoming and encryption is not
activated. I also connect via AOL and have been able to
collect my mails with this setup in Outlook 2000 with no
problems. When I now test my mail connection in Outlook
2003 I get an error message saying "The specified server
was found but there was no response from the server.
Please verify that the port an SSL information is
correct." Could you please advise me about what I may be
doing wrong, is there a known fault when downloading mail
via Outlook 2003? I am able to download from this mail
account, with the same settings via my mobile phone
without any problems, so the problem seems to be Outlook
related.

Please contact me via I can
download my mails via my telephone, so I will read it
from there until I have rectified the fault.

Regards
Scot Haynes

Default Pop3 account problems

Scot I am an entirely new user and unable to do much, but I do know that when I activated account I had to use phrase "pop-server" rather than just "pop" and "smtp-server" rather than just "smtp." Maybe helps. Wish I could get further than that, but unable to do that now. Sends me error message "unable to read LDAP directory server (81)." Huh?

Scot, I have a similar problem. Upgraded from Office XP
to Office 2003 and everything OK except can't get my mails
off POP3 or SMTP server. I have SpamKiller which continues
to work OK. Disabling SpamKiller Norton Internet Security
and every other application has no effect. It's a family
PC and all the accounts are the same. In the account set
up page "Internet E-mail Settings (POP3)" I can "Test
Account Settings." with no problem/errors. I don't
understand randi's suggestion. I've spent 2-weeks on and
off searching and trying various options but no luck
todate. Found a few others with similar problem though.

Tried going back to Outlook XP but that doesn't work now.
Driving me mad.
Good luck
Gary
