Default cannot display the stencil

The stencil does not come up when I am opening a file. I click on the stencil
I need and only a blank page document comes up. I also cannot open a stencil
through the FileShapes menu. Is there a solution to this that I am not aware

Sounds to me like you've moved the stencil window off the main viewing screen.
Or have you recently moved from a wide screen or double screen display?
