OK, in that case, can you try the suggestions in

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/284250/en-us

bearing in mind that wherever it talks about Office XP, you are using Office
2003.

(I don't have much hope that this will work, but it's the best I can
currently think of)

I get all "free"? updates for Office 2003 (and 2007) and Windows via
Windows
update automaticly. No 2007 on board!

Sri abt delay. Was reading and rereading and very busy with out door "things?"

KB 284250 speaks abt Windows 98/98 2nd edition/ME/NT 4.0/2000 not abt XP.
{To install the updated version of the Windows Installer, follow these
steps:== 6. Follow the step that is appropriate for your operating system. •
Microsoft Windows 2000ouble-click Q282879.exe to run it and install the
update.} Which .exe for XP?
As far as i know/can see is Windows Installer working fine.

OK, let's go back to the idea of making a few comparisons.

On my test system I have the following mapi dlls - you can find the
properties by right-clicking on the file name in Windows explorer.

c:\windows\system32\mapi32.dll
File version: 1.0.2536 (XPClient.010817-1148)
Product version 5.1.2600.0

The file size is 109KB (112,128 bytes)
The Modified date is 04 August 2004, 13:00:00

c:\windows\system32\mapistub.dll seems to be the same file with a different
name

These are both English-language .dlls and it looks as if you have the
Dutch-language ones which may be different, but it is worth comparing
anyway.

There is more, but let's start there.

OK, I'm clutching at straws a bit here, but...

1. Can you try renaming the Windows registry value

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\InstallCMD

to e.g.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging
Subsystem\InstallCMD2

then running Outlook Express?

2. Do you have a registry key called
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\MSMapiApps
?

3. Do you have a file called mapisvc.inf anywhere on your system? If so, can
you please rename it (e.g. to mapisvc.jnf) ?

No.

And how change InstallCMD in InstalCMD2??

Right-click on the name of the value, and select Rename.

then running Outlook Express? ======= Uou mean if OE is still working?

I just want you to run OE one time. I would expect that "InstallCMD" is
there to tell OE what to do when it first runs. Maybe when Word tries to run
OE, it fails because OE cannot do what is specified in InstallCMD. (It does
not matter if you have successfully run OE before - all I'm asking is that
you try again - if it succeeds, we do not need to worry. If it fails, that
tells us something).

OK, that is interesting, because I do not have a mapisvc.inf here. I think
it is installed by Outlook 2003 installation.

I hate to ask this, but how difficult would it be for you to reinstall
Windows XP?

I am also wondering whether you could try going into Office setup and go
through the process of removing Outlook again?

Changed InstallCmd in InstallCmd2.
OE is running normal. I did sent a msg to 3 accounts but received no msg's!
50 minutes later i did sent via webmail the same msg to the 3 accounts and 1
minute after i received the msg from webmail the "old" msg's! Accidental?

Rename InstallCmd2 in InstallCmd again?

but how difficult would it be for you to reinstall
Windows XP?

Never did this! Have to ask my (outdoor) son.

You didn't install Office without Outlook on your system, just removed it as
i did?

I think this is probably because of normal e-mail delays.

Rename InstallCmd2 in InstallCmd again?

If you want. I do not think it will make any difference now.

Because of your original question about not being able to merge to Outlook
Express, I started with Windows XP + IE + OE + Word, and no other part of
Office.

Even if I install the whole of Office now, then uninstall it, it is very
unlikely that I will repeat exactly what has happened on your system.
However, that might be the next thing to try here too.

On my system is the whole lot of Office 2003 installed.

I will ask my son to do a new Office setup and remove again OE. This will
takes weeks or more, because he is very busy.
