Default Email Mail Merge to HTML format using Word 2007???

I have looked and MS Outlook 2007 is my default mail client. I just got my
PC with Windows Professional on it. Who would I contact to report the
problem?

Default Email Mail Merge to HTML format using Word 2007???

It depends partly on where you are and whether your version of /Office/ was
an "OEM" version - typically, preloaded on the machine, or a "retail"
version.

If it's OEM/preloaded, normally you have to seek support from the machine's
supplier. If you bought the "retail" version i would try to visit the
Microsoft support web pages (try http://support.microsoft.com ) for your
country/region. I would suggest that in this case you try to find the
appropriate support phone number. In my experience issues the "e-incident"
submission method doesn't deal with problems that involve more than one
product. FWIW in the UK I would phone support, ask for "Professional
support" and I now know who I would end up dealing with, but it looks like
you're in a different region.

Hi,

These are great suggestions, however I am having the same problem as CES and
I cannot locate a .pst file on my system.

Could that be the problem? how would I fix it?

suggestion is that Word is actually logging into a different profile from
the one you normally use. So you could
a. check that
b. ensure you only have one mail profile (Control Panel|Mail|Show
Profiles) and/or
c. recreate your Outlook profile (I don't have a good set of instructions
for that right now)

1. I would try the detect and repair first, if you have not doene so
already.

2. If your copy of Outlook is connected to an Exchange Server, it can be set
up in several possible ways. You'd need to ask the Outlook people for more
details, but these days, I think it would be fairly typical for your PC to
be set up in "Cached Exchange Mode", in which case it gets its data from the
Exchange Server but mirrors it in an "Offline" file which has the extension
..ost. It's also possible that you have /no/ local file containing your
messages.

3. If you have a .ost, you would need to use SCANOST instad of SCANPST. You
can find out the locaiton of the .ost by selecting your toplevel "Mailbox -
your name" item in Outlook, right-click,
Properties|General|AdvancedAdvanced|Offline Folder File Settings . If you
have some other kind of Outlook configuration, you will probably be able to
find out the name and location of any .pst using a similar approach/

4. If you can see that there /should be/ a .ost or .pst but cannot find it
using search or Windows Explorer, the chances are that you need to ensure
that System/Hidden items are included in the search, and/or that in Windows
Explorer Tools|Folder Options|View you have Hidden files and folders|Show
hidden files and folders selected for the relevant folder (I usually select
it for one folder, Apply, then click Apply to all folders).

Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express as the default mail program?

Did you use the Search in Windows Explorer to find a file *.pst?

Hi,

Outlook is my default.

I used the windows exploere to serach but had forgotten to include hidden
folders in my search!

found it eventually, scanning it did not fix the problem

I had already done that, nothing it reinstalls the product sucessfully.

2. If your copy of Outlook is connected to an Exchange Server, it can be set

Hmm, searched (included hidden folders) and was unable to locate and .ost
file

I researched including hidden folders (had forgotten about this last time I
serached) found 4 .pst files I scanned 3 and recieved the ssame messag for
each. They all had damage and the scan fixed them. It generated a log too
mapparenetly it could not find the 'BBT entry in the RBT"

when it tried to recover the PST/OST for top level objects got the messasge
'folder invalid high-water mark"

when it tried to walk all foldres (??) it said "Heirarchy table for 122, row
does not match sub-object"

and it still does not work... any way of reinstalling these files?

Hi Laila,

At this point I am not sure what to suggest.

Do you have more than one Outlook profile? You can /probably/ find out in
WinXP by looking at Control Panel, then "Switch to Classic View", then
"Mail", then "Show Profiles".

One explanation I have seen in the past for this kind of behaviour is that
Word sends its mails to the "currently-logged in" profile or "default"
profile, and if that isn't the same as your "normal" profile, it's possible
that the "MAPI subsystem", which deals with all this stuff, never gets to
send the messages. Although I am way outside my area of experttise at this
point, unfortuantely so far I haven't been able to get any further by asking
the "MAPI" people/

If you are entitled to some free support (e.g. warranty support) from MS
then I strongly recommend that you contact them directly (most people here
are just volunteers who do not work for Microsoft). Although I've mentioned
this problem to MS and explored various possibilities, I have never been
able to replicate it myself so have not been able to submit my own incident.
All I can suggest is that if you do contact them, I have a few ideas that
may help someone in this area.

*sigh* I dont have warranty with microsoft, it is an OEM software, but it is
important I will pay whatever fees microsoft charges.

I researched including hidden folders (had forgotten about this last time

serached) found 4 .pst files I scanned 3 and recieved the ssame messag for
each. They all had damage and the scan fixed them. It generated a log too
mapparenetly it could not find the 'BBT entry in the RBT"

when it tried to recover the PST/OST for top level objects got the
messasge
'folder invalid high-water mark"

when it tried to walk all foldres (??) it said "Heirarchy table for 122,
row
does not match sub-object"

and it still does not work... any way of reinstalling these files?

c. recreate your Outlook profile (I don't have a good set of
instructions
for that right now)
