Default Two Personal Folders in outlook - same file

I have a little but of a confusing problem in Outlook 2003.
In installing Outlook 2003, I have 2 Personal Folders, however they are the
same file, therefore I cannot close one and just have one since they are
both linked to the default file. I have tried uninstalling and
reinstalling, replacing the file, deleting the file, etc etc. nothing seems
to prevent this little quirk. Anyone have any expert advise on this matter?
