Default Runtime Error when Receiving

For some reason, whenever I receive new messages in Outlook, it experiences a
runtime error and is forced to close. If I close it immediately, then when I
reopen it, it will re-receive those same messages, thus creating a duplicate
copy. However, if I wait several seconds before clicking the OK button on
the error alert pop-up, it will complete the full download of each message,
including running rules, and will not re-receive them after I restart it. It
seems that absent of clicking that OK button, it will keep functioning
(except that I can't click on Outlook until after I get rid of that alert
screen).

My research thus far has kept bringing me to discussions about particular
security software getting in the way. However, I don't use security software
other than a malware scanning software that I manually run when I wish to get
rid of tracking cookies or other malicious software. I recently replaced my
bad hard drive, and the only thing different from before to now is that my
warranty provider installed the SP3 update that I previously avoided.

That being said, are there any recommendations out there aside from
reinstalling Microsoft Office?

DETAILS...
Operating System: Windows XP SP3
Office Edition: 2003
Malware Softwa Lavasoft Ad-Aware

Thanks to anyone who can help,
Zakhary

Have you tried installing all the service packs/updates for Office 2003?
Have you tried running a repair on the installation?
Have you tried deleted the current profile in Outlook and setting up a new
one?

What have you tried other than searching the web for an answer?

All the basics have been tried (i.e., updates, repairs, deleting current
profile, etc.).

The explicit error details will be posted once I get it again.

For some odd coincidence, since my original post, I have not come across the
problem. I do recall the alert message referencing to a C++ problem.

In any event, for the time being, I will consider this closed and will
repost with fully details if the problem transpires again.
