Default Publisher version compatability?

I just installed Office Ultimate 2007 w/ Publisher on my primary computer and
a laptop. There's another computer that I have to use sometimes though. It
has 2002 office suite on it that does NOT include Publisher. I learned that
I could download the compatability service pack so that the 2002 software can
read documents written on the 2007 version. But it doesn't include Publisher
either. So here are my questions: 1) If I purchase and install a 2003
Publisher (it's cheaper than 2007) will I be able to send/read/use files
between the 2003 and 2007 versions? Is there a compatability download for
that too? Thanks in advance!

You should be just fine with Pub 2003. No compatibility file needed.

Thank you very much! This is probably really pushing it, but...how about
2002? :-)

Should be, assuming you can find it.

I was more concerned about the other way around...if Publisher 2002 could
read and edit Publisher 2007 documents. But it sounds like it should be
okay. Thanks for your help.

I am not sure that is what you originally asked.
Pub 2002 canNOT read Pub 2007 file unless they are saved as Pub 2000 files
using SAVE AS in the file menu.

John, you're thinking of Publisher 2000. Publishers 2002, 2003, and 2007
all share the same file format.

Ed,
I am sorry, I thought it was only 2003 and 2007 that were the same but
stupid me I did not try it out before I wrote the above.
I have 97, 2002 2003 and 2007 so I should have been sure.

John G.
