How to password protect a webpage in publisher
Step one: Verify with your ISP that it is allowed.
I can tell you how I do it with a Publisher 2000 site. Post your Publisher version and site address. -- Don Vancouver, USA "Wayne" wrote in message ... How to password protect a webpage in publisher
Don
It is www.ecv1797.com and I am using the 2003 publisher. I want to password a future page on the site, one that only clampers may access, and need to know how to do this. Thanks Wayne -- Wayne Edgin "Don Schmidt" wrote: Step one: Verify with your ISP that it is allowed. I can tell you how I do it with a Publisher 2000 site. How to password protect a webpage in publisher
Does your server allow password protected pages? Your server will be the
one who encrypts the password. Contact the support folks on your server or the support information on your server and verify passwords will work. You will need to create a cgi-bin folder to store the User name and the encrypted password. Verify it is allowed on your server. It's the server who creates the encryption. You will need to verify this first. Also, because I use Publisher 2000 I am required to use a File Transfer Program (ftp) to upload my files; I don't know if this is a requirement when using later versions of Publisher. I am fairly sure you can use this method. -- Don Vancouver, USA "Wayne" wrote in message ... Don It is www.ecv1797.com and I am using the 2003 publisher.
