Default Office XP Product Key won't work

I am trying to install Office XP in a new computer running Windows Vista. The
message says that my product key is invalid. I have tried it several times
with the same result. I would appreciate suggestions.

Did you purchase that copy of Office with a different computer or did you
purchase it separately?

It was purchased separately and was used up to Feb 2007. At that time I
purchased Office 2007 which I installed after removing Office XP. Now I tried
to install XP in a new computer and the key comes up invalid.

I tried it 3 times just in case but the result was the same. Any other
suggestion will be appreciated.

Do you have more than one Office edition/version on your computer? Including
trial versions.

Yes, it's a new PC with a trial of Office 2007 which is not yet activated. In
the meantime I was able to install Office 200, but do you think that if I
remove the trial version of 2007 it will solve the problem?

Dump both versions, install the paid version, activate it.
