Default Word "locks up" on starup in W7

I'm using W7 RC.
WinWord 2007

Word has started locking on startup. About all I can do is open a file, I
can't edit files and, when I try to close Word it crashes. I ran Office
diagnostics and found nothing. I tried to go into option and disable
toolbars thinking that was the problem but it will only let me into the
general options.

The only thing "recent" was an update to Mesh which I use to sync with a
laptop (also running W7) and which has no problem.

There are no toolbars in Word 2007?
See http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm then
