We're talking about the new forums, not these nntp groups.

If this becomes a reality over the next few months then I will be the first person to say something better has come out of Microsoft's rather absurd decision to close its newsgroups. Incidentally, we have a new Prime Minister (United Kingdom) today and his first task is to place an order with Dell, HP and Microsoft of some 1 Million PCs and Laptops with Windows 7 and Office 2010 pre-installed and the plan is to get as many as 3,000 MVPs to assist the Government to roll out these machines and train staff on a voluntary basis due to British Government in serious financial problems!!!! The govt will, of course, honor its pledge to cut taxes for the rich and increase the taxes and VAT for the poor to make rich richer and make poor poorer. hth -- THE INFORMATION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. The End Is Near
Well, I hope that moderators on the forums are subject to some manner of
review and that moderators who go around deleting posts that shouldn't be deleted will be relieved of those duties. But I'm not a moderator over there so I really don't know. All I can say is that 2138 posts later as far as I know none of mine have been deleted (except for the one that *I* submitted for deletion myself). I've certainly seen no evidence of posts being deleted for "propaganda" reasons. And I can assure you that in my...14(?) years as an MVP I've never once had anybody from Microsoft tell me what my opinion had to be or take issue with anything I had to say - including those times when I've been openly critical of Microsoft products or policies. The only guidance along that line I've ever received is when we were briefed on items that were not public knowledge yet and so we were reminded that the content was restricted by our Non-Disclosure Agreement. In every case that was a matter of a not-yet-released product or feature and it was simply a matter of "You can't talk about this publicly right now." In my opinion claims that the new forums are somehow going to be a restricted space controlled by Microsoft marketing are just paranoid FUD. -- -Ben- Ben M. To me, Microsoft still is a well-respected company (even though I have been disappointed by their performance in the past few years), and I have no doubt that they will not do anything like this. The problem is not the company but these "individuals" who have no ideas about the critical success factors of the company and only want to be a free rider plus to be an ass-kisser. The ONLY problem for Microsoft is how to get rid of them without ****ing them off. "Ben M. Schorr, MVP" wrote in message ...
