Default Outlook 2002

I have hotmail account folders and corresponding .pst data file, but the
account itself is gone. I added the account anew.

When I try to close the old folders I get: "The operation failed. An object
could not be found." When I remove the old data file, I cannot even click the
folders: Outlook wants the file.

How do i remove the old folders and data file?

Hard to say how you got to this point but you've damaged your mail profile
and you'll need to recreate it via the Mail applet in Control Panel.
