fixing page margins/header size
In a master document i have, the header for one section is huge (7cm) and it
will not allow me to reduce its size by using the vertical ruler at the side. I have tried changing the size by using page setup and choosing specific top and bottom page margins but with no luck, as every time i close the header, nothing changes and on opeing page setup, the top and bottom margins have automatically changed from the ones i set. Is there any way to fix these page margins or to change the size of the header. This problem only occurs in one section of the document, but a carriage return is present in all the headers which has also mysteriously appeared by itself Thanks Eleanor |

Make sure that File | Page Setup, Layout tab, vertical alignment is set to

To fix the top margin, click on File | Page Setup | Layout | Vertical
alignment: Top | Apply to: Whole document | OK. If the ¶ button on the Standard toolbar near the top of your screen appears highlighted, click it to turn it off; if it is already off, click on Tools | Options | View | uncheck the "Paragraph marks" box | OK.
