You don't need to activate Office 2000 but you still need a product serial number to install. If you don't have the serial number then you can do one of three things: 1) Use MagicalJelly to obtain from your existing computer in which you have Office 2000 still installed. Magicaljelly can be downloaded from: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml 2) You coul hack your install CD by altering one fil in Notepad so that you can bypass product serial number insertion. Effectively, you make your Cd as if it is a volume Licensed one so no need for the serial number. this only applies to Office2k (not XP nor 2003). 3) You could phone Microsoft in your own country but you will need access to your existing system on which you can read out PID from Help/About box! This I find unacceptable to be interrogated by a MS idiot! You can then pass on the CD to your best mate who too can install Office 2k in his/her PC so that you can share life as well as files! hth LarrySir wrote: I need to reactivate my old computer. Hey Mercury, An intelligent man like you amazes me!. The guy/gal already owns the software and he wants to install it on his replacement machine. What made you say this is piracy aka stealing? Stealing is a man made concept. When you see a monkey running away with a banana or an orange do other monkeys call it stealing or surviving? Indeed, inquiring mind would like to know this!! hth Mercury wrote: Isn't that know as software piracy aka stealing? Inquiring minds would like to know? "Dave Senior" wrote in message ...
