Archiving Questions
I am having problems getting OL2002 (accessed through Micrososft Terminal
Server) to archive my inbox. I am using the defaul location for archive.pst (c:\Documents & Settings\MyName\Local Settings Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. I had previously tried to change that location to a folder on our network but that did not work. So I returned to the default location. I have set OL to move stuff that is more than 2 months old to the archive. And I have run the AutoArchive manually and also automatically. Problem 1: When I open the archived Inbox, I see e-mail from 7/12/05 back to 4/12/04. (I have no idea what might have happened to anything before that and that's not my concern here.) But 7/12/05 is not really older than 2 months, which is the setting for AutoArchive. It's pretty minor but I don't understand why OL is not following the instructions exactly. Problem 2: When I look at the inbox after archiving I can see e-mail from today back to 4/12/04. Why is anything older than 2 months (my setting) still in there? The stuff is also showing up in the archive (see Problem 1) but it is not getting removed from the active Inbox! What gives? Note: In the AutoArchive settings I have "Delete Expired Items (E-Mail Only)" unchecked. Is this a problem? I don't want them deleted, just moved from the active Inbox to the archive. |

Archiving Questions
Hi Joe
Archiving is based on the Date last modified. So an email in your Inbox may have been modified within the past 2 months and thus not be archived. -- Judy Gleeson - MVP Outlook Acorn Training and Consulting Canberra, Australia see what Outlook training can do to improve productivity: http://www.acorntraining.com.au/pdfd...ithOutlook.pps www.acorntraining.com.au/productivit.htm "Joe McGuire" wrote in message ... Archiving Questions
Thanks, Judy. This might explain a few "old" messages not getting
archived, but not several hundred. Moreover, it appears that everything OLDER than 2 months (my setting) is getting duly archived along with about 12 days of stuff that is not quite that old. Any idea why the archived files continue to show up in my active Inbox? On Fri, 2 Sep 2005 09:36:13 +1000, "Judy Gleeson MVP - Outlook" wrote: Hi Joe Archiving is based on the Date last modified. If in fact multiple copies of this ARE showing up then I'm not sure what it going on--or how many days to wait until a post I sentin finally appears.] "Judy Gleeson MVP - Outlook" wrote in message ...
