Outlook 2007 on two partitions
I have Outlook 2007 installed on drive C. I want to install it on another partition for testing some pst files, etc. When I put installation disk in however, setup.exe recognizes I have it installed and only offers to "change your installation of Office Outlook 2007". Only offers to add or remove feature, repair or remove. Is there a way I can "force" the installation on another partition? -- pmme |

Is this another operating system partition or simply another partition acting as a logical disk? If the former, there's no way that the installation in the second partition can know about the installation on the first partition. If the latter, you'll have to completely uninstall it from the first partition. Keep in mind that even if you install it on another drive, some of it will still be installed on C. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

Outlook 2007 on two partitions

news Brian I am not sure how to answer your partition question. The computer came with two partitions, one C and D, called the recovery partition. (It still holds recovery data but I have since switched from Vista to 7). But again, my real problem is that when I put the Outlook installation disk in my system, it only offers me the option to "repair" or "remove" Outlook. How can I get an option to install on Drive D? Since you've changed operating systems, simply reformat drive D and you'll be able to use it for storing things. If it has not been initialized as a drive, then use Disk Management to format it as a drive and make it available. Then specify some path on that disk for the location in which you want Outlook to be installed during setup. You'll get the option. Keep in mind that it's not really a separate disk drive, merely a partition on the existing drive and if one partition fails, they both will. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
