Default Unable to read file

When trying to open any office document I receive Unable to read file. This occurs in any office application. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the problem went away but is now back... Anyone know what is causing this? Thanks.

I would suspect an Office Macro virus or worm. Will your AV
check Word docs? I know Norton will, but dunno about
others. If you have Heruistics in your AV, try turning that
on too, long enough to do the scans at least.

Anyone else?

I found what it is.. i downloaded the maintenance from the Office website and that is when it failed. I am running Microsoft Office XP Small Business 2002. So for some reason it fails on the new maintenance.
