Default Report missing Maximize, Minimize and Close buttons

Can anyone shed light on why sometime when I print preview a report and
maximise it in code, all the Maximize, Minimize and Close buttons are missing
from the report window?

This really screws up the MDI nature of Access if you have to close each
window before opening a new report.

For anyone how is interested if you have the access window maximised, before
you open the child MDI report window then you seem to maintain the buttons,
but as soon as you navigate to another page on the report the buttons
disappear.
It only occurs when the report windows are maximised.

I would love to know if this is a reported bug and if any has news of a hot
fix or similar.

P.S is there a discussion group on these discussion groups? The new thread
functionality doesn't work in Firefox

Default Report missing Maximize, Minimize and Close buttons

Hello Simon,

I would like to know some detailed information.

1. What's the Access Version you use?

2. Could you send me a screenshot of this issue? I did not reproduce this issue on both Access 2003
and 2007 on my side.

I could get the close buttom at the top right below the close button of the Access Application.

You could send the screenshot to me. Please remove the ONLINE in my display email address to get
the real one.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Wei Lu

Hi Wei,
Thanks for the reply, I have emailed you some screenshots showing the
problem. I am using Access 2007 with an MDB file.

Cheers
Simon

Does your application have a main application menu bar defined? The horizontal
"strip" of the main menu bar is where those buttons go for a maximized object.
If you have no main menu bar defined then there is no place for those buttons to
be displayed.

Thanks for the suggestion Rick,
It is an intermittent problem, well that's not a total accurate description:
on first opening of the report the buttons are there, when you navigate to
another page of the report or switch to and from the access application the
buttons disappear.
In Access 2003 yes there is a main menu bar and also there isn't a problem,
in Access 2007 there is a Print Preview Ribbon while in Print Preview, and
the normal ribbon in all other cases.

Cheers Simon

Hello Simon,

I get your email. Unfortunately, I did not reproduce this issue on my side.

Could you send a sample mdb file to me to reproduce this issue?

Sincerely,

Wei Lu

This is imho not an Access issue. I have seen this behavior also with
other MDI applications.

Afaik is it due to the MDI message loop processing.
