Default [PPT2007] How to free rotate like in PPT2003?

Hi all!

In PowerPoint 2003, on the Drawing Toolbar, I could select Draw
Rotate or Flip Free Rotate. An object would then get 4 rotation
handles, one on each corner. See [1] for an example. The selected
object could then be rotated over the corresponding corner, instead of
its centre.

In PowerPoint 2007 I can select Home Drawing Arrange Rotate
Further Options and enter any number, but it will only rotate the
object above its centre. I found out that an icon looking exactly like
the one in PPT 2003 can be added to PPT 2007's Quick Access Toolbar,
but it remains inactive. (Why is that?)

Is there a way to get the PPT 2003 version of free rotate back to PPT
2007?

Kind regards,

Christian

I think you'll have to rightclick the shape, choose Size/Position and use the
Rotation tool on the Size tab to do the job now, which is a little less quick.

Well, not only is it slower, it's also only rotating the shape around
its centre, not its corners (see picture in previous post)... :-(
Also, I don't understand why they added the icon if it can't be
used...
Actually, because of that icon, I'm still hopeful that there just
might be a way...
Any ideas?

It's odd how the Free Rotate tool is still available in PPT 2007 and
Excel 2007, but it's dead. (See it in More Commands of the Quick
Access bar.)

I also liked the 2003 option of holding CNTRL with the regular
rotation handle that would then pivot the rotation on the center
bottom tick.
