Default OE Password

I just reinstalled my Win XP, and I'm trying to get back to where I was
before I started.
One problem I'm having is that now when I open OE 6.0 I'm asked for a
password. I did not ask to be password protected in OE.
Here's what I've done so far:
In "Identity Properties" the "Require a password" is unchecked.
In "mail.charter.net Properties" under the "Servers" tab Password is
unchecked.
But I'm still being asked for a password.
Please advise.

In Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Servers, you must have a password.
It is required by your ISP and they know what it is. Call your ISP or use
this tool to recover it.

Default OE Password

I set my password using the process I described in my original post. Now I
do not have the pop up. But why does it not work with my wife's account?
I can go to mail.charter.net, enter her username and pasword and I can see
her
e-mails, so it is not the server. It has to be something with OE.
Thank you for your reply.

Default OE Password

I have fixed my proplem by using the "ToolsAccounts....." method for my
account. But my wife's account is doing the same thing, and the process does
not repair it.
The link you supplied shows only my password. My wife's password does not
appear.
Thank you for your reply.

Default OE Password

Is it a different account (address), or just a different identity?

If it is an account, call Charter and ask them what the password is.

If it is an identity:

It is going from bad to worse.
In my attempts to fix this now when I open my OE account my wife's password
pop up window pops up. When I click OK it just keeps popping back up.

Are these Identity passwords, or OE logon passwords? I would try removing
the accounts, rebooting and then adding them back.

Default OE Password

I guess part of my problem is not knowing the terminology.
I tried to reinstall OE using my Win XP Home CD, but all I succeded in
doing was to remove Internet Explorer, which I reinstalled.
I'll try your suggestion.
Thanks for your help. I'll keep you informed.

Default OE Password

FYI:
This is a shortened version of what I did today.
The more I tried to fix it, the deeper introuble I got, so I reinstalled
Win XP (again).
When I got back up I still had pop up problems with my wife's OE account,
so I thought I would check with Charter to see what they had as their pasword.
After talking with a computer for about 45 minutes, I finally got a real
human being whom I could hardly understand.
Anyway, between this person and Charter's tech web site it was determined
that my wife did not have a Charter e-mail account. (Although she's used it
for 5 years.) So, we created a new e-mail account for my wife by slightly
modifying the e-mail address she has had for 5 years.
Go figure.
Thank you,
Bob
