Ditto here...but still got a long ways to go, it's finding time to do
what I want to do at the moment that is my biggest hurdle.

But just to let you know that you, Tom, Robear, David, Frank and Jim
are my heroes!

You MVP's are all my heroes. Your knowledge and generosity in sharing
with us is worthy of much more recognition. And your sense of humour
helps no end.

Thanks again

Bill

Why thank you kind sir curtsies, and it's people like you saying
things like that, that makes our day.

This problem only began yesterday - when I download a binary ng
posting and right-click on the image - then Save As - the file
name comes up as "untitled" and the file type as "bitmap". In
fact the pic may be named Jim66.jpg.

How can I fix this??

TIA

Delete your temp and temporary internet files.
This usually works.

Worked !! - Many thanks - what is the logic behind this?

Don't ask me technical questions! I just know that is the usual fix.
You need to do this occasionally. Glad all is now well.

I was hoping you'd explain it all to us. VBG

Haven't you been reading ie6.browser this week? eg

From poster Rick:

Subject: Four year old bug in Internet Explorer
Date: Mon, 21 Mar 2005 01:49:27 -0800

I think his summary in his post is probably accurate.

Unfortunately the blog page he links to appears to be unmoderated
so be prepared to winnow out the grains of truth from the chaff of
speculation and complaints if you go there.

I have enough on my plate without going to the browser NGs. I left them
when people had install problems due to AV software and when spyware became
king and all the questions became pretty much the same. I'll try and get
back there once things start happening again, if they do.

The explanation you refer to is indeed speculative, and I seriously doubt
that the web designers are the one's responsible for the bmp behavior. What
I'd like to see, rather than speculation, is a description by MS and a fix.

Your comments are much appreciated, but I consider the term "hero" a bit
overused, and not really applicable to our role here as helpers.

You may find also that some of us are selfishly motivated, as we actually
like to do what we do here. G

Thanks are always a nice spinoff.

cheers,

steve
