Default Frustration on Word2007 help function

have just spent over an hour trying to find out something simple. How to
calculate the total of a numeric table column in Word 2007. I cannot find
the syntax for use in the equation editor! Where is the old manual gone?
The "on the PC" is minimal and online I have not yet been able to define
anything that gives me an answer!

This page can help if you want to do simple Excel-like calculations in a
table:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/wo...567361033.aspx

To use the feature in W2007, place the cursor in the cell where you want the
formula and go to table tools layout data group formula.

I share your frustrations. I have no idea why a search for the exact term
used in the ribbon (formula) gets no usable result in word help.
