Default list indents

I created a bullet list. The text is too far to the right of the bullets. I
found the below verbiage in help, but I cannot right-click and find any
Adjust List Indents in the menus. How can I get the bullets and text closer?
thanks

Click in front of one of the list items that is not properly aligned.
Right-click, and then click Adjust List Indents.

To adjust the alignment, change the values in the boxes to adjust the
alignment:
Number position Enter the position where you want the selected number or
bullet.
Text indent Enter the position where you want the text to line up.
Follow number with Enter the amount of space between the selected numbers
or bullets and text: Tab character with specified distance between selected
numbers or bullets and text, Space for a single space between the selected
numbers or bullets and text, or Nothing for no space between the selected
numbers or bullets and text.

Have you tried selecting the list and then dragging the tab point on the
Ruler?

That worked... The HELP page at the bottom cautions against using the ruler
to adjust. Not sure why.

thanks

Using the ruler changes the setting in the Format | Paragraph dialog and not
in the Format | Bullets and Numbering dialog, which is the only one that
counts for numbered/bulleted lists.
