Default Footnotes & Bibliography

I want to have footnotes (references) and a bibliography. To do this, I want
things automated, so I only have to enter the info for each
reference once.
Is there a way to make a bibliography from footnotes, or visa versa?

Thanks!

The proper format for Footnotes and Bibliography are very different,
involving different punctuation, naming, and notation of page numbers.

E.g. for books in approximately Chicago bibliographic style:

Footnote: First Name Last Name, Title (City: Publisher, Date), page number
referred to.
Bibliography: Last Name, First Name. Title. City: Publisher, Date.

You can't copy and paste straight out, or cross-reference the information.
I don't know of any bibliographic styles (e.g. Chicago, APA, MLA) that
require identical footnotes and bibliography.

So about the only way to get this to work is to use bibliographic management
software (e.g. EndNote, Reference Manager, or if you google for bibliography
software you should find a page comparing about 8 programs). Such software
lets you enter the info once, then you enter fields from the software into
Word, and let the program format the footnotes and biblio properly,
according to the style you set.

Depending on the standard of bibliographic formatting that is required of
you, there might be other workarounds.

Insert Reference Footnote

within this menu, you can choose either Footnote or Endnote. If you
want to Cross Reference a reference, you can go:

Insert Reference Cross Reference

and a menu will pop up asking what you wanted to reference and if you
just want the number (symbol, etc.) or the whole text, etc. It gives
many options.
